Firefly neural network in photoshop will soon be paid

 

The revolution that managers have been talking about for so long in their correspondence with designers has happened: Adobe Photoshop now has a “Make it beautiful” button!  Of historic proportions, and working with images will never be the same again! Experts (like me) are already comparing what happened to nothing less than the invention of photography.

What’s happened

In March, in pursuit of Midjourney, Adobe rolled out its AI-powered image generation service, Firefly. Compared to working in Discord, like, say, Midjourney and BlueWillow, Adobe’s neural network had a more advanced interface, but the results of the generated images themselves were not particularly impressive – competitors handled many tasks much better.

The most interesting thing was the prospects: a company with a large ecosystem, a large number of its own applications and experience in developing them, with an advanced graphical interface for these applications, with a huge library of images and fonts, cloud storage, successful experience in licensing products and promoting them came to the forefront! And here it is – finally: Firefly neural network has become part of Adobe Photoshop!

Possibilities of neural networks in Photoshop

 

Perhaps one of the main breakthroughs is that the neural network for generating images now has an interface — and it’s a Photoshop interface! No more command lines in Discord, no more output of results in the web interface via a browser, no more combinations of letters and hyphens to set the aspect ratio of an image!  But your main tool is now Generative Fill.

Generative Fill

Generative Fill, or “Generative Fill”, allows you how do foreign trade companies do video marketing promotion: from … to generate a new image, supplement an existing one, delete part of it, expand or retouch it in a matter of minutes (and sometimes seconds!) using a text description or without it at all. This is what the new panel looks like in Adobe Photoshop. We’ll leave everything to the right of the Generative Fill button for Photoshop experts, we won’t need all of that now: selections, masks, adjustment layers. So what can this button do?

How to work with a finished image

Let’s make the task more difficult: let’s work in Firefly Photoshop with a finished image. Please note: when opening the image (we haven’t done anything yet, haven’t selected or written any queries), the Remove background button appeared on the context panel — this is an opportunity to remove the background using a neural network! And here’s the result from the first try! Okay, I played along with Firefly Photoshop a little, by aligning the horizon lines at approximately the same level in advance, but the result is still amazing Note: the girls’ scales are not the same. But that’s okay, we’re in Photoshop! A little photo manipulation and now everything is fine!

Firefly will become paid

Along with the announcement of leaving beta, Adobe announced a paid access system to the neural network. Each a complete list of unit phone numbers of them will be equal to one generation or generative fill. The company published a list in which it described how many credits for generation subscribers of its products will receive monthly.

Adobe managed to integrate a neural network into a graphic editor so that both a beginner and a professional could use it. It is difficult to assess all the prospects of Photoshop with a neural network, but the retouching capabilities are already amazing: you can remove objects from very complex backgrounds, supplement objects, and generate new ones.

Adobe is OK with copyrights, so the generated images are suitable for commercial use. Do not forget that there are certain restrictions, so if the neural network decides that your image is of questionable content, for example, erotic, then Photoshop will refuse to work with such a picture, issuing a corresponding message. The quality of the generated images is not always high (ugly faces, problems with anatomy), so do not forget to combine the work of Photoshop with other neural networks, for example, Midjourney.
