Are food blogs still an interesting niche?

Food blogs became a big topic a few years ago. There was a real boom around 2012/2013, which led to many new blogs about food.

But was this just a temporary trend or a permanent industry? It is clear that food itself and italy phone number library cooking in particular will remain an important topic in the future. After all, we eat every day and there is a correspondingly high interest in new recipes.

However, the question remains whether it is still worth starting a food blog today? This trend is simply no longer new and there are already a lot of food blogs out there, so the competition is strong. So if you start a new food blog today, you will initially have a hard time competing against the huge competition.

Below you can see a competitor analysis for the search term “recipes” in Google.de using my favorite tool Market Samurai (unfortunately now discontinued):

Here you can clearly see that the competition for such general search terms is very strong interesting niche.

However, things are different for niches in this area. Here is the competition for “South Tyrol Recipes”:

Here the competition looks much feasible.

That’s why niches within the “food” topic offer a way to set yourself apart from others and create something new. Videos are also becoming increasingly important and there is still a lot of potential in the German market.

From my gut feeling, I would say that there is still potential for new food blogs, even if it is certainly not a sure-fire success interesting niche.

Your Opinion

A while ago I asked you what you think   about food blogs. Over 400 participants took how web marketing works in a schematic way (part i) part in the survey and provided interesting results.

  • Very interesting niche. (37%, 160 votes)
  • I want to know more about it. (25%, 109 votes)
  • I just want to eat, but julius boateng and a group of colleagues from sprout social not blog about it. (23%, 100 votes)
  • I am a successful food blogger. (9%, 40 votes)
  • This is just a passing trend. (5%, 22 votes)

Number of participants:431(max. 1 votes)

A good third believe that food blogs are a  very interesting niche. For many, there is great uae cell number potential here, but only a few seem to have actively implemented it. Only 9% of participants say that they are successful food bloggers themselves. But that’s always 40 participants!

A quarter would like to know more about food blogs, perhaps even to start one themselves.
