Figma’s big update quick test

Last year, Figma significantly updated its integrations with Github, Jira, Storybook, a VSCode plugin, and also introduced an important development mode – Dev Mode. This time, at the annual Config conference, a huge number of neural networks, Figma Slides presentations, and a new user interface.  You’ll see a new toolbar, rounded corners, and 200 new icons.

Interface redesign (UI3)

The redesign, according to Figma, is meant to “lay the foundation for the next decade.” You’ll see a new toolbar, rounded corners, and 200 new icons. As part of the design refresh, the company wants to “focus less on our UI and more on the user experience” and create something that will be accessible to new users while still being useful to Figma experts. Figma says this is the third “major redesign” the company has done since launching its closed beta. The new design is being rolled out as part of a limited beta, and users can join a waitlist if they want to try it out.

A phone number database is a list of phone numbers, usually organized for purposes like marketing, sales, or reaching out to customers. This list often includes extra information such as the person’s name, address, and other details about them, along with their phone number. It’s important to follow the law when using these databases, especially rules phone number database like GDPR, TCPA, and CAN-SPAM, which need permission from the users for marketing. These databases are usually bought from companies that gather data or collected through online forms, surveys, or other methods where people agree to share their information.

At a briefing in June 2024, Figma’s chief product officer Yuhki Yamashita an example of how Figma could create an app design for a new restaurant. Within seconds of him typing an invitation into a text field, Figma launched the app, complete with menu lists, a tab bar, and even buttons for delivery partners like Uber Eats and DoorDash. It looked like a typical mobile app mockup, and Yamashita was able to start iterating on it right away. In another example, Yamashita asked Figma AI to design a chocolate chip cookie recipe page, and sure enough, it did — including an AI-generated image of the cookie. When zoomed in, the image looked pretty accurate.

Figma is also introducing AI features that can significantly speed up small tasks within large projects, such as searching and matching similar images, and automatically generated text in projects instead of the usual Lorem ipsum placeholder text. Ideally, all of Figma’s new AI tools will make it easier for people new to Figma to test ideas, and for those more familiar with the app to iterate faster, Yamashita said.

Figma Slides

Not all of the listed tools are available on regular user accounts, especially from Russia – so, of all the listed, I only have google seo training course (2024 long-term enrollment) presentations (Figma Slides) available – and that’s in beta version. Yamashita tells The Verge that users have been hacking. Figma to find a way to create presentations like Google Slides. So now there’s an official way to create and share presentations right in the app.

A few more updates

At Config 2023, Figma introduced Dev Mode, a new workspace in Figma for developers. And in 2024, they launched updates to this mode and more. Handing over control of a layout is not a single action. It is actually an iterative, non-linear process in which teams swap roles as the design and code evolve. The new Ready for Dev View app cuts through the noise and helps developers, designers, and other stakeholders know exactly what they need to move projects forward. It allows developers to search and filter, parse through updates, and see who updated what and when, so they have all the context they need.

And with Focus View and the ability to mark projects as complete, developers can stay on top of things while staying in sync with the team. The a complete list of unit phone numbers new Focus View allows developers to focus on what’s ready to be built. They have access to all the layout changes and updates that have been made to the design over time. Including a snapshot of what the design looked like before the last revision.

More efficient ways to track status

Projects are always in development, and last-minute changes are inevitable. Now, when a designer makes changes to projects marked as ready for development, they can keep developers informed and leave helpful notes describing the changes. Developers will then be notified of the changes so they know exactly what they need to work on next. Takes system code for design and makes it more useful across frameworks and languages. Code Connect is generally available and comes with improvements such as showing snippets of connected code in the component playground. It has new tools to simplify setup and support for React, React Native, iOS, Android and more. These updates are available to users in development mode on the Organization and Enterprise plans.

More efficient Auto Layout

Figma can now when a full design element might require multiple auto-layout frames, but it can also create those frames for you, eliminating the need to apply auto-layout frame by frame across your design. Additionally, you can hold down the ctrl key to ignore auto layout while dragging a design element into an auto layout frame to set an absolute position. Learn more here. Figma now features Apple iOS, Google Material Design 3, and Figma Simple Design System in the Resources panel. Each UI kit includes components and sample mockups that allow you to create complete work.

New prototype viewer feature

Create your designs on screens of any size with that automatically resizes. With a new menu option for Preview or Prototype View, the viewer will respect the constraints and auto-layout properties when you resize the viewport or select a different device frame. Figma’s improvements aren’t just about the interface or features, but also about user experience. Figma is currently on making it easier for freelancers and agencies to collaborate with external clients, streamline project handoffs, and simplify invoicing.
